Terms of use

Last updated 25 September 2026

whatmodel.sh is operated by Merlinsbeard Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). By using whatmodel.sh (the website, its text and JSON endpoints, and its data) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. What this is

whatmodel.sh is a free, informational leaderboard. Its scores, rankings, speeds, prices, memory requirements and commands are estimates derived from public third-party sources and our own calculations (see how it works). They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Nothing on the site is professional, technical, financial, legal or purchasing advice, and you shouldn't rely on it as the sole basis for any decision.

2. Commands and third-party software

The site shows commands that download or run software and models made by others, and links to paid APIs. We don't make, host, control or vet that software, those models or those services. Read and understand any command before you run it; you run it at your own risk and are responsible for your own systems, data, costs and backups. Models and software come with their own licences and terms (some prohibit commercial use or restrict how outputs may be used), and it's your responsibility to follow them.

3. Sources, names and trademarks

Benchmark results, prices and other figures belong to and are credited to their sources, which are linked on each model's page. Some are used under open licences such as CC BY 4.0; the full list of sources and their licences is on the sources list. Model, product and company names and logos are the trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify them. Listing a model or source doesn't mean it endorses us or we endorse it. Sponsored placements are labelled.

4. Acceptable use

To the extent we hold copyright or database rights in the compiled numerical dataset, our data adaptations and derived scores, we make those contributions available under CC BY-SA 4.0. Each source's own licence and notices also remain applicable. This data licence does not license model weights, third-party trademarks or the application code. These terms do not restrict rights granted by the listed data licences, including copying and redistribution.

You're welcome to use the site and its endpoints from browsers, scripts and AI agents. Please keep automated requests to a reasonable rate, and don't attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service. We may limit or block access that harms the service or other users.

5. No warranty

The site and its data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, availability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Merlinsbeard Pty Ltd and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, licensors and suppliers aren't liable for any loss, damage or other liability, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the site, its data or any command, software, model or service it refers to. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and special loss, lost data, lost profits and costs you incur with third parties. Where liability can't be excluded but can be limited, it's limited to re-supplying the information concerned.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

7. Your responsibility

You agree to be responsible for, and to hold us harmless from, claims arising from your breach of these terms or your use of third-party software, models or services you found through the site, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Changes

We may change or discontinue the site, its data or these terms at any time. Changes to these terms take effect when posted here, with the date above updated. Continuing to use the site means you accept them.

9. Privacy

See the privacy policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Australia.
